My obsession with bright colors definitely comes from growing up in New Mexico and always being enamored with the sunsets. Growing up, I was a grunge kid with a rebellious streak, love for live music, and always was interested by self expression through art. I was always curious of new places and ended up living and going to school in Indiana where I studied Digital Photography at the Art Institute of Indianapolis. My time there ended up being the best and most impactful years of my life! Once I graduated, I felt a deep calling to be back in the southwest area where I could be close to more hispanic culture, art and of course live music. What better place than Austin, Texas?!
I had my start doing a lot of family sessions for Picture People and later managed a studio for a smaller local Austin company called Andrae Michaels. There, I managed both the Austin and Waco studios, where we would photograph hundreds of families each week. It really whipped me into shape in learning how to read people of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds and creating a comfortable atmosphere. I made the jump of being a full time photographer in 2018 and now am able to connect with people on a deeper, and more creative level by curating experiences that are focused on being totally positive and uplifting! I will always have that grungy, rock and roll loving rebellious side about me, but am also a total flower child at heart! Like most people, there are 2 sides to me that I often express, and interchange in my style depending on my mood. This concept is how Self Care Sessions were born! We all have multiple sides about us that don't often "match", but they make us the beautiful, magnetic and multi-dimentional beings that we are.
